Clos de L’Elu Anjou Blanc Bastingage Loire 2016

Bastingage is a cuvée of 25-year-old vine Chenin Blanc grown in soils of shale and sandstone. Many of the wines of Anjou do not see a full year of oak aging with indigenous yeasts and additional time in vat, giving off truly unique qualities and characteristics. A dark straw yellow colour hints at its subtle note of oxidation and toasty Marcona almond flavors.  Raw honey, chamomile, pear, peach, dried apricot, and dried apple rings linger in memory for minutes.
