chateau LaMartine Cahors Malbec 2016
The main grape is Côt, at 90% of the blend, with 10% Merlot to soften the finish. Côt is the local name for Malbec and this may not be the Malbec most Americans are accustomed to. This has the depth and earthiness of Bordeaux in many ways. There is a lot of black fruits, such as blackberry, black cherry, black plum and a hint of underground cellar. What separates this wine from others is the impeccable structure of the fruit, earth, and tannin.
