Channing Daughters Blaufrankisch The Hamptons Long Island 2014

This may be the most unexpected wine in the shop: Blaufränkisch, Austria’s great grape, together with 25% of Germany’s Dornfelder, grown on New York’s Long Island. It may also be the tastiest wine in the shop: slightly earthy on the nose but very fresh and engaging, with aromas of raspberries, red cherries, plums, cloves, and licorice, followed by grainy tannins and vibrant acidity on the spicy palate. A lot of fun with a serious edge to it.
