Brick & Mortar Pinot Noir "Cougar Rock Vineyard" Napa Valley 2013

Rising-star winemaker Matthew Iaconis owns and makes Brick & Mortar wines. His "day job" was at Napa's Antica Winery on the top of Atlas Peak. Just so happens that "Cougar Rock Vineyard" is also at the top of Atlas Peak. I don't say this lightly...Brick & Mortar "Cougar Rock" is particularly, and quite surprisingly, "Burgundian." Smell and taste, a la Burgundy, wild red cherry, dust, tea leaves, crushed red rose petals and dried wild herbs (thyme/rosemary) smells & flavors. Its firm, fine tannins, shining acidity and relatively low alcohol (13.5%) makes for a good one for the cellar. Best drinking 2019-2025 we think. 210 cases made.
