Bodegas Shaya “Habis” Rueda 2019

This has to be the world’s best Verdejo, showcasing the potential of a grape that rarely sees the care and attention other more prominent grapes get. The grapes are sourced from sandy, beach like soils where the 95-year-old vines reach deep into mineral rich soils. Lightly oxidized aromas of blanched almonds, baked pears, peaches, nectarines and a rich chalky finish. A little bit of oak ties the wine together, but the grape is the perfect vessel to transmit the terroir of the vineyard.
