Birichino "Scylla" 2017

62% Carignan, 33% Grenache, 5% Mourvèdre. Bonny Doon veterans started their own project 10 years ago, and continue to impress with incredibly good-value wines. The fruit comes from two Carignane vineyards planted in the early 1920s, while the Grenache and Mourvèdre are over 100 years old. The result is a floral, aromatic nose of red and black fruits which are really crunchy on the palate with a lingering, spicy finish. Lots of fun.
