Irpinia is a broad, historic region which covers Greco di Tufo (which this producer make excellent examples of) and Taurasi, the great area for Aglianico. The fruit is planted at 600m elevation for a serious yet very approachable version. There’s a ripe, crunchy fruitiness, with aromas of blackcurrant, cherry, plum, chocolate, clove, and pepper, all given structure by lively acidity and firm tannins. A great introduction to Aglianico.
