Benevolent Neglect Whole Cluster Syrah 2016

Benevolent Neglect are two winemaking friends who make some of our favorite small-scale wines. They’re not afraid to experiment: in 2016 they made two Syrahs from the same vineyard (Los Madres in Carneros), one whole-cluster fermentation and the other not. The whole-cluster won the day for us, as it’s so smooth, pure, and linear, with aromas of blackberry, mint, umami, spice, and has firm tannins that hold the fine structure together and a long, concentrated finish.
