Benevolent Neglect "Las Madras Vineyard" Syrah 2015

Cool climate vineyard on Highway 12 (just behind Fremont Diner) that does a great job of producing a Northern Rhone style of Syrah. 40% whole cluster ferment. 1 new Hungarian barrel, rest neutral French oak. Violets on the nose, followed by dense blueberry, olive tapenade, raspberry, cocoa, black pepper & cola. Medium acid, tannins soften with a short decant. Just 100 cases made.
