Antonio Bernadino Paulo da Silva Colares Chitas Tinto 1999

This is a legendary wine that everybody needs to experience.  The extremely rare, pre-phylloxera root-stock in sandy soils of the once robust region of Colares produces the nearly extinct Ramisco grape.  The 1999 is showing great, with stewed fruits, a light salted caramel nose, plums, licorice without the sugar, and a delicate mouth-feel that changes to a slightly tart, and mildly tannic finish.   This is a one-percenter wine that will bring great pleasure to those who appreciate it.
