Alberto Orte “Escalada do Sil” Tinto Valdeorras 2018

Valdeorras is most famous for its Godello these days, but that was not always the case. The native red grapes Merenzao (Trousseau/Bastardo), Mencia and Garnacha Tintorero (Alicante Bouschet) combine to make a wine of sophisticated rusticity. Peak of ripeness red cherries, purple flowers, fruit leather and Washington red apples.  A delicate earthiness is reminiscent of Burgundy, with a soft palate and perfectly integrated tannins and acids.
